I’m male, over 50, and based in Brisbane, Australia. I’ve got plenty of time on my hands after recently retiring after a long career in Government.

Why Stinky Dave? – It’s obviously not my real name, but a nickname that’s been with me now for a long time. It originated on an 8-day, 1,600km Smiddy ride. After 6 days of eating energy bars, gels,  and bananas constantly on the bike my tummy was a little gassy.  You put 8 guys in a dormitory for the night, I let go of one little fart and the rest is history!!

My first passion is cycling.  I love riding my bikes – both road and gravel.  I’ve been riding now for over 40 years. It allows me to eat lots and keeps me mentally healthy – the activity and the time spent with friends.  If I didn’t ride, I’d be heavier and unhappier.  Riding is part of who I am.

Over the last decade or so I’ve been fortunate enough to become involved with the Mater Foundation’s Smiling for Smiddy charity.  It’s a fantastic cause that has raised over $13M for Melanoma research.  I’ve been lucky enough to share some amazing Smiddy adventures with some awesome people over the years.

My other passion is gadgets and technology. I’m an early adopter from way back.
