For the last few years, my home has become increasingly smart – all thanks Home Assistant.
Lights come on when I enter a room, blinds lower automatically, my home responds to the weather, and I can tell my house what to do – “Turn on the Coffee Machine”.
For somebody with a bit of time on their hands, and a love of technology it’s been fun. I’ve learnt a bit about scripting, containerisation, ESP32 and a range of other topics.
However, I have learnt that if you have a “brown thumb”, nothing will save your pot plants. As you can see by the photo, I’ve had to give my peace lily some emergency surgery. That white plastic thing poking out from the pot is a sensor – it tells my home assistant instance the soil moisture and fertilizer levels.
Theoretically, I know when to water and fertilize my plants. Unfortunately, while my watering and fertilizing are on point, I’m pretty sure my choice of pot is killing my poor little lily. She needs to keep her feet dryer.
Hopefully, I’ll find a new pot soon, and lily will fight her way back to health.
Wish us luck.
